Mama and Baby

What to do when mama needs head shots for a new job and baby is too cute not to photograph? Take care of them both in one afternoon, I say! Baby Sophie is such a cutie pie at five months old, and mama got some portraits done, too, as well as some of the two of them together. Sophie started out all casual as she had just woken up from her nap. Chewing Dad’s hands is one of her favorite activities:

She then got all gussied up to match mama! Her other favorite thing: eating her feet!

We are very good friends with this family and this was the last photoshoot I did before leaving Boston – so sad! But we will be reunited with Sophie, sister Chloe, and many other friends on a trip to Italy this summer, so there is that to look forward to! Until then, stay adorable, Sophie! I don’t think you’ll have a problem doing just that … you are too cute for words!

Amy and Greg’s Wedding – Published!

I am so happy to share that Occasions Online has chosen to feature Amy and Greg’s Plimouth Plantation wedding! This was one fun event – I still talk about the gorgeous Hornblower Garden and how wildly entertaining the dance floor was that evening. Congrats, Amy and Greg!

Wedding: Melissa and Dan at XV Beacon Hotel and Mooo Restaurant

I recently got to return to a wonderful Boston venue for another intimate dinner wedding, which is what XV Beacon Hotel and Mooo Restaurant do best! Melissa and Dan invited their families to watch them tie the knot in Mooo’s gorgeous wine cellar. Melissa rocked an awesome cocktail wedding dress by Herve Leger and we got to do a fun photo session of the couple before their ceremony and party. With her fiery red hair and the love these two obviously share, it was a pleasure to photograph this couple! What a stylish night overall!

Engagement: Megan and Kyle in Quincy Center

Spring is in the air, and love with it! After the horrible events in Boston on Marathon Monday, we all need a little more love in our lives. I know I hugged my family closer than ever after that day.

Megan and Kyle’s love is palpable in these photos. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with them, traipsing around their stomping grounds in Quincy Center. We visited the Thomas Crane Public Library (love that old stone!), random doorsteps, the gorgeous blooming trees outside of city hall, and more stairs by the T station. There is so much to use photographically in such a short radius; I’m super-excited that their wedding will be in the same neighborhood!

We laughed that their children won’t know what these things they’re talking into are … we were pretty surprised to find operational phone booths ourselves!

My Life: 9 Months Pregnant

As you may know, I am about to have a baby (see my prego progression here)! It is an incredibly exciting time and one I love capturing and sharing with images for others. My due date is TOMORROW, and I had been thinking of getting my own maternity photos done professionally for quite some time … I always talk about and truly believe that it is so important to celebrate these fleeting and essential life experiences, so I should do my own, too, right? So I called up one of my very best friends and one of the most talented photographers I know, Tara Lynn Sen, and we set out last Saturday for a pre-baby celebrations shoot!

We froze our patooties off tramping around Larz Anderson Park in Brookline in February, but it was totally and completely worth it! I know my husband and I will cherish these photographs forever (and that he is an incredibly good sport to put up with me and my wardrobe selections for him …). While I do not recommend waiting until the week of your due date to have maternity photographs taken (too risky!), I wholeheartedly recommend the experience!

Baby Ema, 4.5 Months

I’ve said it before, but it bears saying again: I LOVE following the same child through the first year of life (I’d love to follow them all through more than a year!). The passage of time is so incredible, so fast, so fleeting, and capturing people along the way is such a pleasure.

My journey with baby Ema started with her parents’ maternity session. I was then lucky enough to visit her when she was just ten days old. Now, here she is at four and half months, with the sweetest disposition, the loveliest laugh, and the brightest eyes. What a doll!

I can’t wait to see you again, soon, Ema!

Sisters in the Fall!

What is better than playing in fall leaves? It sure looks like fun, doesn’t it? Sisters Sarah and Katie enjoyed an autumn romp last November and I was there to partake in the laughter. You’ve seen these two before, when Sarah was just a weensy baby – it’s crazy how time flies!
