Family Portraits at the UCLA Botanical Garden

Growing up just a few miles from UCLA, I somehow never visited the Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Gardens while I was a kid. I was excited to go there with a friend and her family over a year ago (hey, I’m still catching up with blog posts over here!) for a family session in the California sunshine.

From bamboo forests to native desert plants, this garden has a variety of landscapes to explore and enjoy, and two-year-old C. loved romping through it all in her party dress. Enjoy this smiling family!

Though I’m based in Seattle, I’m in L.A. to visit family all the time, so think of me for photo things down here, too!

Wedding: Glenda and Raphi at the Nixon Library, Yorba Linda, CA

It was a beautiful, quintessential southern California day for Glenda and Raphi’s wedding at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda; skies were blue, temps were balmy, the sun shone, and everything was picture perfect! Even the government shutdown couldn’t put a damper on this event (and thank goodness functions at the Library are run separately from the governmental aspects of the place, or else this would be a different story entirely!)! The wedding was pure elegance, from the lavish cocktail spread of exotic fruits to the towering centerpieces. After a romantic first look, Glenda and Raphi had tisch and bedeken ceremonies, the traditional groom’s reception and veiling of the bride in Jewish weddings. I have never had such an exuberant crowd; Raphi was literally danced down the hall to veil his lovely bride. After a stunning sunset ceremony in front of the reflecting pool, I encountered the most energetic hora I’ve ever been witness to. The fun continued all night on a raucous dance floor. Every detail was amazing and I was thrilled to be there to capture it for this wonderful couple! Take a peek for yourself:

Wedding: Melissa and Dan at XV Beacon Hotel and Mooo Restaurant

I recently got to return to a wonderful Boston venue for another intimate dinner wedding, which is what XV Beacon Hotel and Mooo Restaurant do best! Melissa and Dan invited their families to watch them tie the knot in Mooo’s gorgeous wine cellar. Melissa rocked an awesome cocktail wedding dress by Herve Leger and we got to do a fun photo session of the couple before their ceremony and party. With her fiery red hair and the love these two obviously share, it was a pleasure to photograph this couple! What a stylish night overall!

Engagement: Megan and Kyle in Quincy Center

Spring is in the air, and love with it! After the horrible events in Boston on Marathon Monday, we all need a little more love in our lives. I know I hugged my family closer than ever after that day.

Megan and Kyle’s love is palpable in these photos. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with them, traipsing around their stomping grounds in Quincy Center. We visited the Thomas Crane Public Library (love that old stone!), random doorsteps, the gorgeous blooming trees outside of city hall, and more stairs by the T station. There is so much to use photographically in such a short radius; I’m super-excited that their wedding will be in the same neighborhood!

We laughed that their children won’t know what these things they’re talking into are … we were pretty surprised to find operational phone booths ourselves!

Wedding: James & Kim at the Bedford Village Inn, NH

Earlier this fall I had a wonderful time with James and Kim at their Bedford Village Inn wedding up in New Hampshire. What a beautiful place! Everything happened at the charming yellow inn and was just gorgeous, from the lush garden ceremony to the fairy light-studded reception. Take a look at all the fun!
