Jennifer and Richard had a fairy tale day at the gorgeous Victorian in Santa Monica, my hometown! It was wonderful to capture all the elegance for them at this amazing venue. Enjoy a little peek of James and Kim and their gorgeous day at the Bedford Village Inn in New Hampshire. It could not have been more beautiful weather or a more perfect day, and their smiles and love made it even better! Have a great honeymoon in Italy, you two!

Wedding: Matt and Maria at The Henderson House, Weston

Matt and Maria’s gorgeous vintage-inspired wedding was such a glamorous affair! The Henderson House was the perfect venue for such a romantic, whimsical evening. These two paid attention to every detail and the mansion in turn oozed charm and glowed with warmth. I absolutely adored their literary theme! Both Matt and Maria wrote their own, unique vows, and it was so touching to hear them speak their chosen words to each other. Take a look at this beautiful couple and their fabulous day!

Wedding: Nicole & Erik at Clark’s Cove Farm in Walpole, Maine

It was an absolutely perfect summer day for Erik and Nicole’s nuptials at Clark’s Cove Farm in Walpole, Maine. When I spoke to them about their wedding, Nicole and Erik told me they wanted a simple, playful, vintage feel to their day, and they more than achieved this. With beautiful wildflowers, tea lights and luminaries, embroidery hoops hanging from the barn ceiling amidst white lanterns, lawn games, and delicious food (the best I’ve had at a wedding all season!), everything was relaxed and enjoyable, a pure delight.  Take a peek, starting with stunning flowers, shoes, dress, and jewelry:

The ladies got ready in a carriage house on the property, while the gents prepared in a suite connected to the barn. Everyone was in good spirits!

Nicole and Erik chose to do a “first look,” which I love, so we placed Erik in the garden and led Nicole to him … so sweet!

From there, we roamed the expansive property and took many portraits of Nicole and Erik before their guests started to arrive. It is so nice to have time to do formal groups and photos of the couple in this leisurely manner! And what a place to take photos, too … gorgeous!

And here’s my favorite little guest … what a sweetie!

Hello, beautiful wedding! Matt and Maria put on a glamorous soirée full of vintage details and personal touches, and I cannot wait to share it all with you … but for now, two photos of this gorgeous couple will have to suffice! Congrats, you two! It was a perfect evening!

Wedding: Isa and Nathan in Miami, Florida

Nate and Isa’s wedding in a word? GORGEOUS. Take a look at this duo and it’s the first word that comes to mind:

But before I get into too many portraits, let’s go in order here. First, the details and the preparations for this lovely beachside ceremony at the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, right north of Miami, in Florida.

Isa put so much thought into all the details – not just her beautiful personal effects, but throughout the whole day. I loved all her accessories and the decor!

Nate and Isa decided to do a first look and many formal photographs before the ceremony, which I love! The setting could not have been prettier for couple and group portraits.

Before we knew it, it was ceremony time!

Isn’t it all too lovely? We took a few more photographs on the beach as the sun went down. Being from the West Coast, I’m used to very bright sunsets over the ocean, but I loved the painterly quality of light we saw on the Atlantic with the sun setting behind us and the hotel.

From the beach we moved into the hotel for a cocktail reception in the spa, and then a reception in the ballroom.

The dancing was incredible!

At some point in the evening, we decided to sneak outside and try a few photos with sparklers. It was crazy out there in the pitch dark on the beach, but we didn’t do too badly, huh? And Isa’s ring is just out of this world.

It was an incredible day and I feel so lucky to be friends with such a wonderful couple. Thanks for having me there, Nate and Isa!

Wedding: Ben & Lauren at Lareau Farm Inn, Waitsfield, Vermont

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending, and photographing, my friends’ wedding in Vermont. Ben and I went to college together, and though Lauren didn’t actually go to Middlebury, I feel like she did! These two are perfect for each other and it was such a joy to be a part of their wedding weekend in a state that means so much to all of us. Lareau Farm Inn, original home to the delicious American Flatbread, is just about the most picturesque place ever for a wedding, especially one for two foodies and nature-lovers like Ben and Lauren.

Since we stayed at the Inn the night before (and the night after), I got to take my time documenting this wonderful day and all its details.

The color scheme for this country wedding was gingham and gray, and I loved it! Ben and Lauren brought the gingham touch to every little detail, from the gentlemen’s ties to the bouquet’s ribbons, even to the back of Lauren’s “something blue” shoes!

When it was time to get ready, Ben and Lauren were cool as cucumbers, really relaxed and simply excited to get married. I ran around the Inn capturing both of their preparations.

Before we knew it, it was ceremony time! The Lareau Farm Inn has a gorgeous secluded grove for these occasions, and it was so perfect.

I love seeing anyone get married, but it’s especially touching when I have a very personal connection with the couple. I was definitely kneeling in the aisle, wiping away tears, for this one! After the lovely outdoor ceremony, we had time for portraits! We stayed in the very same grove for some of them because when you have such a gorgeous setting, why not?

There may have been a jump-off between the groom’s party and the bride’s … who do you think won this one? There are some pretty impressive moves on both sides …

While the guests enjoyed a delightful cocktail hour with pizza from American Flatbread, amongst other delicacies, Ben and Lauren and I took the time to make some “just married and so in love” portraits of the two of them. We traipsed all around the farm in the fading light and got some really nice shots.

The reception was held in the Lareau Farm Inn’s pavilion, and it is quite a lovely spot. Ben and Lauren styled the entire wedding themselves, and the pavilion was no exception. It was absolutely gorgeous! They also handmade their wedding favors: bags and bags of “Nutty for You” granola from the L & B Granola Factory! I’ve eaten ours, and it was delish! I see a future business venture for them … Lauren also hand-painted their bride and groom cake topper to look like her and Ben. Adorbs!

The party kicked off with some awesome speeches, then turned into dancing madness! There was the requisite Middlebury College attendee shot, too, of course. I handed my camera off to a trusted friend of the family and jumped in, too!

Ben and Lauren, it was a night to remember. Thank you so much for having me as your guest/photographer/friend. I had a wonderful time and I look forward to more Vermont adventures with the two of you in years to come!

Wedding: Joni and Scott at the Middlesex School, Concord, MA

Summer is a beautiful time to get married, which is why there are so many summer brides here in New England! Joni and Scott are an adorable couple and their tent wedding on the grounds of the Middlesex School in Concord, MA (where they are both employed) was amazing. Thanks to Tara Lynn Sen Photography, I got to come along as the second shooter.

The day started with Joni getting her hair and makeup done; here she is without any makeup yet, and she’s already stunning:

We then met up at the Middlesex School where Joni and her ladies were getting ready at one of the administrator’s houses. Tara and I covered all the fun details as the girls prepped. The pink shoes are incredible!

The day threatened rain, but held off until after dinner. It was perfect – not too hot!

The dress was absolutely beautiful: one-shoulder lace and so light! Joni was beyond gorgeous in it.

We had great portrait sessions at the house – there were so many wonderful places to shoot. Joni and her family and her bridesmaids all looked lovely.

After spending time with Joni, Tara and I went over to visit the groom, Scott. What a surprise for me when I realized that I’d gone to college with Scott and recognized half of his groomsmen from class, music groups, and wandering the pathways of Middlebury College! It was so much fun to cover a Middlebury wedding.

Joni and Scott chose not to see each other before the ceremony, so there was lots of anticipation as Joni approached the chapel with her father and stepfather.

After a wonderful ceremony, we made sure to capture the newlyweds in all their bliss!

The reception took place in a tent on the Middlesex School grounds and it was filled with flowers! A tent wedding is a photographer’s dream for lighting – it is so easy to bounce flash and make everyone look amazing. Not that this place or this couple needed any help…

We stole the newlyweds’ rings for some quick shots before enjoying the speeches (and the couple’s hilarious reactions to them!), the cake-cutting, and all the dancing.

Congratulations, Joni and Scott – it was a beautiful wedding and  you are an awesome couple!

Wedding: Emily & Richard at the Brookside Club, Bourne, Cape Cod

My summer of weddings continues, this time on beautiful Cape Cod working with the wonderful Erica Ferrone. The day started with a gray morning drive from Boston…

…then we were on to the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth for getting ready pictures, formal portraits, and our couple’s first look. Luckily, the sky cleared up quite a bit and it turned into a gorgeous day!

We took a lot of photos of the lovely details there, too, like Emily’s dress and her amazing blue shoes lined up amongst her bridesmaids’ heels.

I loved the blue and green color scheme for a summery Cape wedding – it was perfect!

While Erica photographed the lovely Emily, I went to visit the handsome groom, Richard. Communicating by cell phone, Erica and I orchestrated the couple’s first look. It was so sweet to see!

More and more couples are choosing to do the majority of their formal portraits and couples portraits before their ceremony (I did, too!); it’s nice to have time with your future husband or wife before the big hoopla, and it makes for some very nice, unhurried pictures, too.

Later in the afternoon, we changed locations for the ceremony and reception, moving to the nearby Brookside Club in Bourne.

After a lovely late afternoon ceremony in a tent on the lawn, the party was on inside and on the deck!

Post-ceremony, Emily and Richard took a break from all the attention to have some appetizers by the golf course.

They rejoined the celebration shortly – first dances are always fun…
