Seattle Family Photos – Bennett at 18 Months

As a family photographer, I get a lot of questions from clients about where their photo shoots should take place. While a super-picturesque location can provide an amazing backdrop, sometimes the best place for photos can be found while simply strolling around your own neighborhood. For Bennett’s 18 month and fall family photos, we stuck close to home, walking around Seattle’s Capitol Hill, and ended up in his very own living room. The results are fantastic! Happy 18 months, Bennett. You are a lover of leaves and apples, books and blocks, and your “surprise” face is absolutely adorable!

Andrea’s Bridal Shower at Upstairs on the Square, Cambridge

I had the wonderful experience of photographing Andrea’s bridal shower at Upstairs on the Square in Cambridge – the best little restaurant with the most personality. We had the Zebra Room all to ourselves and oh, what a decorating scheme! White and black and pink pink pink! Add in a springy green brought in by Andrea’s shower hosts and it was just beautiful. A tea party is a classic and fun shower theme and I never, ever turn down a scone. Or a candy bar!

Andrea’s friends and family were so sweet – there were heartfelt toasts and much spirited conversation. The groom even stopped in as a surprise with flowers for his bride!

Thanks for having me, Andrea! Best of luck with your wedding!

Happy Pi Day – with Pie (of course)!

I take every opportunity to celebrate with food – baked goods, to be specific. What better day to celebrate than Pi Day (3.14, TODAY)? And what better baked good to celebrate with than PIE? Oh, homonyms.

Here is my rendition of Apple Custard Pie from the legendary Moosewood Cookbook:

It’s pretty healthy as pies go – made with yogurt and eggs and brown sugar and apples – that’s about it! Milton Cat was interested, but was not given a piece.

3.14 is also my little brother’s birthday – happy 14th, Eels! It’s your GOLDEN birthday, too (turning 14 on the 14th and so on), so it’s going to be a good one. Yay! Love you. And I love pie.
